New Year's Day Walk

For the last 30 years we have always gone for a walk on New Year's Day with a varying group of friends and returning home for some home made soup and to finish the Christmas food left overs.
We have had all sorts of weather from brilliant sunshine to snow blizzards, but the effort has always been worth it.
This year we walked around the Longshaw Estate. The weather started bright but cold, but soon turned to heavy showers and made the going heavy.

The problem with being a keen landscape photographer is that ideally it is a solitary past-time. When walking with others there is only time for the occasional grab shot. There is definitely no possibility of hanging around for half an hour waiting for the light to be 'just right'. You have to take what you can, breaking off from a conversation to crouch down, point and shoot, then run to catch up the rest of the group.
